KCWC - Saturday

I've got a whole drawer full of scraps. I don't want to throw them away, but neither do I want to keep collecting.

What do you think about our new models?

KCWC - Friday

Used the pattern with the fold over hood and added some sleeves for a sweater version. The fabric was difficult to sew - it just moved so much. And matching up stripes, oh well. Life's too busy, really.

KCWC - Thursday

My first button fly - not that difficult actually.

And I like how it turned out, but somehow not on my normal trouser pattern and not with this fabric that doesn't seem to fall nicely.  That's why I cut the top bit and played around with it.

Of course I didn't think about measurements, so I doubt they'll fit her. Also, I can already hear her complain that they are not easy or quick to take off. Not sure what to do with them now  - probably look at them for a few days until I figure out how I would like the pattern to be.

KCWC - Wednesday

I really like button flies, but for quite a long time didn't dare to include them in a pattern or sew them. They are a bit scary, but this summer I studied them and tried different versions. They are not so difficult after all.

These Linen trousers have no buttons, but maybe you'd call it a fake button fly?

Tomorrow, I hope I can show you some trousers with a proper button fly.

By the way, she is not posing, she is performing in a circus - inspired by a circus we went to during the summer - a circus by kids for kids. She was very impressed.

KCWC - Tuesday

I find hoods are essential on kids clothes. Hats just don't seem to stay on for very long or I forget to take them...

The 'fold over' hood makes it really easy to put on and off and still isn't too wide around the neck. And its faster to sew than these or these.

I am always nervous when working on a new pattern because chances are it won't turn out the way I want it to. But when it actually does, it's fantastic.

KCWC - Monday

I like recycling things. So many things can be re-used or re-purposed, especially clothes.
And when making something old into something new I find it easier to take risks - I am not wasting new fabric and I don't have 'the perfect' version of what I'd like to make already in my head.
So I can just cut out a square and play around to fill it again.

I quite like how this T-Shirt turned out. Especially the short sleeve to long sleeve 'conversion'. Surprisingly easy - no pattern required ;)

¡1!

For my little one's 1st birthday softie 'Hilde' joined the gang. Now Hilde, too, is watching over her while she's asleep.

Hilde's hair didn't turn out as curly as I had intended. Well, the rather 'square' haircut gives her a more serious look. And it's quite an achievement to look serious with a bell around your neck.

I am really looking forward to KCWC. I've been working on a new hoodie pattern which I hope will be finished just in time.

The perfect present

The perfect present my super talented fashion designer friend gave me. A dress pattern of one of her beautiful dress designs which I adapted to fit me perfectly.
I could so get into sewing for myself.
