Magic Book Dust

Their books are sacred and bed time reading non-negotiable.
'Oh, please, only a few pages...'

Ideal Christmas presents for them (and for me ;)
Any recommendations for children's books your kids/ you love?

If anyone else is looking for ideas, here are some of my kids' favourites.

English (perfect for non-native speakers)
Little Owl Lost - Chris Haughton
Wolves - Emily Gravett
The Tiger Who Came to Tea - Judith Kerr
Good night, Gorilla - Peggy Rathmann

German
Henriette Bimmelbahn - James Krüss/ Lisl Stich

Die Glücksfee - Cornelia Funke/ Sybille Hein
Liselotte bleibt wach - Alexander Steensmeier
Mein Esel Benjamin - Hans Limmer/ Lennart Osbeck

Oooh I love book recommendations, I'll check those out - my little one is really into lifting up 'flaps' to find hidden things at the moment.
So how come you're reading German books too :)? I read Dutch books to O, the English ones we've got I translate 'on the go'. S

My kids love The Gruffalo as well (and The Gruffalo's Child). An amazing Australian book is 'Fox' by Margaret Wild & Ron Brooks - unlike any other kids book we've ever read. Great message and beautifully illustrated and designed. Thanks for your list!

Currently my 4yr old loves If I Built a Car by Chris van Dusen. He's almost memorized it. Another favorite: Pete's a Pizza by William Steig. We all love the classic Harold and the Purple Crayon, and for a longer story (novel) Matilda by Roald Dahl. Hoping to introduce them to Narnia and The Phantom Tollbooth when they're ready.
