Stars Sweater

On a recent camping trip we lay in the grass, looking up into the sky.  There were so many stars. Light pollution makes it almost impossible to see many stars in Barcelona. So it was understandable that the smallest princess of our household thought we'd have to watch them to make sure they didn't disappear: "You watch the moon, I watch the stars. Ok?", she said.

It's the first time I've tried bleach on fabric. Some of the dots have turned out quite big but to her it is a stars sweater.

Blouse

I first heard of Happy Homemade vol.2 from Meg. A fantastic recommendation. It is the only pattern book I own. The patterns are easy to make and so simple that they can be amended in many different ways.

This is the blouse on page 4 (c). Made with a very lightweight knit fabric. I have to stop myself from making an entire wardrobe of these.

Sweater

So KCWC has started - a week of sewing to make autumn/ winter clothes. With the princess dress ticked off the list I hope some of the things I like will get the royal approval.

She doesn't really see the point of hemming. Watching me sew, she's asked me many times, "Why can't you do it like I do with paper? Just cut it and put it together." Well, I could give it a try. It would definitely be a lot quicker.

If she ruled the world

If she ruled the world, she'd be going to school in a real princess dress. One that "goes all the way to the floor and a little bit more". She'd be wearing pompon jewels and a crown.

I haven't been sewing any new kids clothes since last Kids clothes week challenge in spring. We agree that she really needs new clothes that cover the entire length of her arms and legs. Her suggestion or demand... you've guessed.

Ok, so I made her one. To wear at home. She made the accessories. She's over the moon. She's been calling me 'Queen' all day.

I am really looking forward to lots of sewing next week, but can I please make clothes for someone's skateboarding tomboy?
